Distribution: It is found from Oaxaca in southwestern Mexico, along the Pacific coast of Central America, through Colombia, and into northwestern Venezuela.
Habitat: The species thrives in semi-open to open areas like Llanos, deciduous woodlands, secondary forests, plantations, and urban tree-lined spaces, but avoids evergreen forests. It can be found at elevations ranging from sea level to 1,400 meters.
Behavior: It is found from Oaxaca in southwestern Mexico, along the Pacific coast of Central America, through Colombia, and into northwestern Venezuela.
Weight: 60 grams
Diet: They feed primarily on fruits, seeds, flowers, herbs, nectar, insects, and algae. They have been observed foraging alongside the orange-fronted parakeet and like many parrots, this species also consumes mineral-rich soil.
Reproduction: Orange-chinned Parakeets breed between January and April, using natural tree cavities or hollowing out termite nests instead of building traditional nests.
