Julietta

Species: Yellow-naped Amazon Parrot
Taxonomy: (Amazona auropalliata)
Spanish Name: Lora
Story:

My name is Julietta. I was kept as a pet, and because of that, I learned to say many words, sing, laugh like a child, and even cry like a baby. The sanctuary has tried for years to introduce me to other parrots, but I usually end up attacking them. They even tried pairing me with a male once, but I made it very clear I wasn’t interested.

I don’t fit well with other birds. My wings aren’t clipped, so I should be able to fly, but after being kept in a small cage for so many years, my muscles weakened and flying is not possible now.

So I stay here, safe and cared for, even though my past life shaped me into a parrot who can’t return to the wild or join a flock.
